Whether you are expanding, buying equipment or managing working capital, the right business loan can help you grow. A little preparation before you apply can get you a better offer and a faster approval.
1. Know why — and how much
Be clear about the purpose and the exact amount you need. Borrowing too little can stall your plans, while borrowing too much adds unnecessary interest.
2. Check your eligibility
Lenders typically look at business vintage, annual turnover, profitability, credit score and banking history. Many prefer businesses with at least two to three years of operations.
3. Secured or unsecured?
Secured loans backed by property or other assets offer lower rates and higher amounts. Unsecured loans are quicker but usually cost more and come with lower limits.
4. Look beyond the interest rate
Compare processing fees, prepayment charges and the total cost of the loan — not just the headline rate.
5. Keep your documents ready
- KYC documents of the business and its promoters
- Income Tax Returns for the last two to three years
- Audited financial statements and GST returns
- Bank statements for the last 6–12 months
- Business registration and ownership proof
